Unfortunately, it can be difficult and time-consuming to achieve full, vibrant lashes consistently with temporary makeup. However, thanks to innovative treatments like lash enhancement, you can keep your eyelashes looking dark and gorgeous all the time.

What Is Lash Enhancement?

Lash enhancement, also known as lash line enhancement or invisible eyeliner, is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment used to create darker, fuller eyelashes.

How Does Lash Enhancement Work?

Lash enhancement is a minimally invasive procedure performed using a special handheld device. The device is used to carefully apply a line of black or brown pigment across the top of the eyelashes. Additional pigment is then added between the lashes to give them a full, dark appearance. In some cases, the under-eye lash line will also be tattooed with pigment during the treatment.

Benefits of Lash Enhancement

Lash enhancement is an effective cosmetic procedure that can provide some or all of these benefits:

  • Darker, fuller-looking eyelashes
  • Long-lasting, natural-looking results
  • Reduces the need for temporary eyelash makeup
  • Increased self-confidence
  • More vibrant, youthful-looking eyes
  • Minimally invasive procedure
  • Minimal recovery downtime

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

Once you’ve had a quick consultation with our lash enhancement specialist to create your personalized treatment plan, the procedure will be performed on an outpatient basis right at our clinic.

To begin, your provider will apply a topical numbing cream to your skin in the treatment area. Then, with your eyes closed, they will delicately use the lash enhancement tool to apply the pigment to your lash line and between your eyelashes. In total, you can expect the treatment to take between one and two hours, and you can leave as soon as it’s finished.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

You’ll likely experience some swelling and bruising in the days following your treatment, but these symptoms can be reduced by applying a cold compress. You will also need to avoid wearing makeup for the first week of recovery. Most patients can return to work right away after lash enhancement, but it’s best to refrain from strenuous physical activity for at least a week.

Am I a Candidate for Lash Enhancement?

Adults who are interested in having fuller, darker eyelashes could be good candidates for lash enhancement.

To be an ideal candidate for the treatment, you should:

  • Be in good physical health
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Have the desire for fuller, darker eyelashes
  • Not be currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Not be currently taking blood-thinning medication

How Long Will It Take To See Results After Lash Enhancement?

You will likely start to notice the results of your lash enhancement immediately after the treatment, but as the new pigment settles, it can take up to a month to see the final effects. For optimal results, it’s advised that you attend a follow-up appointment for touch-ups between one and two months after the procedure. On average, the results of lash enhancement treatment last for approximately three to five years.
