Usually, the procedure will entail an incision, followed by a pulling, or resetting of the skin on the face to enhance the overall appearance of the man. Again, what might be best for your individual case, or to achieve your desired results, could be something entirely different. It’s really best to discuss these matters in person with Dr. Gardenier at your initial consultation. Then and there, all of your questions can be fully addressed and discussed. Oftentimes, it’s at these initial consultations that photos of ‘before and after’ surgeries are shown to aid in the discussion and are used as a reference for future goals.

What Are The Benefits Of Facelifts For Men?

  • A brighter, more ‘awake’ and youthful appearance
  • A less wrinkled, tired, old look to the face
  • An overall improvement to the quality and texture of your skin

Men can benefit from male facial rejuvenation in a number of ways. A ‘Facelift’ itself may be the main procedure, with some other non-surgical enhancements to work in conjunction with the surgery itself. However, most men report a more youthful appearance, as if years have been washed away. Usually, you’ll look fresher, more awake, and alert. An increase in the overall quality and texture of the skin is also often reported.

What About Candidacy for a Male Facelift?

Generally, men opt to investigate facelifts during their 40s, 50s, and 60s—depending on need and desire. When it's obvious that time is starting to take its toll, or a man is ready to do something about that double chin, and/or furrowed, wrinkled brow, facelifts and their associated procedures become an interesting option to consider.

What Is The Usual Procedure For A Traditional Male Facelift?

Here is a general overview of what a facelift might entail. Remember that no patient or surgery is ever exactly the same.

Preparation Before Your Procedure:

Depending on your procedure, it could be performed with either a local anesthetic or full sedation/general anesthetic—meaning you would be asleep.

During The Procedure:

In general, a facelift involves elevating the skin and tightening the tissues and muscles. Fat in the face and neck may be sculpted, removed, or moved to be utilized in a different area. The skin is then re-draped over the newly repositioned contours of the face. Excess skin is then removed, and the wound is meticulously closed to promote exquisite healing and a virtually invisible scar.

What Should I Expect In Terms Of Recovery?

Again, results will vary depending on the patient and the extent of surgery. Generally, you can expect from a few days to two or more weeks off of work. When you meet with Dr. Gardenier for your initial consultation, all of that can be discussed in full.
