What Is Avéli?

Avéli is an FDA-cleared, one-time treatment used to reduce cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. The minimally invasive treatment utilizes an innovative handheld device that smooths the surface of the skin.

How Does Avéli Work?

After being inserted beneath the skin, the Avéli device works by carefully severing the septa, which are the bands of connective tissue that tug on your skin and create dimples. When these bands are cut, the pull on the skin is released, which allows it to become smooth and free of cellulite.

Benefits of Avéli

Avéli cellulite treatment can provide all of the following benefits:

  • Smoother, more youthful skin
  • Greatly reduced cellulite on the thighs and buttocks
  • Minimally invasive
  • Long-lasting results
  • Improved self-confidence
  • Little recovery downtime

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

Avéli treatment will be performed as an outpatient procedure. The first step will be to inject local anesthetic into the treatment areas. Next, Dr. Gardenier will make a small, inconspicuous incision and carefully insert the Avéli device beneath the skin. He will then use the device to cut the individual bands of connective tissue that are responsible for your cellulite. Once all of the targeted septa have been severed, Dr. Gardenier will remove the device and close the incision. Depending on how much cellulite you’re having removed, the procedure can take up to an hour to complete.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

After your Avéli procedure, you will be fitted with a compression girdle to aid the healing process. You’ll be able to go home shortly after the treatment, though you will likely experience some soreness, swelling, and bruising. These symptoms should gradually fade over several weeks. Typically, patients can return to normal daily activities within one to two days of the procedure. However, it’s important to wait one to two weeks before resuming strenuous exercise.

Am I a Candidate for Cellulite Reduction?

If you have mild to moderate cellulite on the thighs and/or buttocks that you’d like removed, you could be a candidate for Avéli cellulite reduction in Portland at Maine Plastic Surgery. Ideal candidates for the treatment should meet these requirements:

  • Be in generally good health

  • Have a BMI below 30
  • Have realistic expectations

How Long Will It Take To See Results After Avéli?

Although you may start to see results immediately after your Avéli treatment, it will take time for them to become entirely visible. Usually, the swelling and bruising will subside within a month to reveal the complete effects. You should only need one Avéli treatment to achieve your desired results.
